About Gemma

Caring for children has always been her calling

As the oldest of 12 children, Gemma has had a passion for children since she was one herself. She grew up helping to nurture her brothers and sisters, and knew as she got older that she wanted a daycare of her own. She studied at Palomar, Mira Costa and Grossmont College for four years and earned a degree in Child Development — the best decision she ever made, and the one that gave her the knowledge and confidence to open her own home in 1996.

For 30 years she has had the privilege of working with families and children across the county. She believes every child is special and unique, with a right to reach their full potential — in a safe, stimulating and positive environment.

I feel so blessed at my daycare. I get to make so many memories with the families who trust me with their children — and it is a blessing to watch them grow and blossom.

Celebrations

Every child takes home something they made

Handprint paintings, holiday crafts, a visit from Santa — a year of small projects the children paint, glue and sign themselves.

The space

Room to play, indoors and out

A good day at Gemma's moves between the yard and the playroom. The fully fenced yard has a covered patio for messy crafts and shaded snacks, open lawn for running, climbing and digging — and on hot days, the inflatable pool comes out. Indoors, a tidy room holds the toy kitchen, the book shelf, and nap mats laid out for the afternoon rest.

  • Fully fenced, and always in sight
  • Covered patio for crafts and snacks
  • Playhouse, climb-and-crawl toys, art table
  • A garden bed the children plant and tend
  • Nap mats, books and a toy kitchen indoors
